Updated for this weekend (March 20-22, 2026). Event details can change, so check the official links before heading out.
So, you are looking for something to do with the wife and kids this weekend. Well, here are a few crowd-pleasers. Houston has plenty going on, but the trick is picking something that is actually family-friendly and not more trouble than it is worth.
1. Houston Zoo Giraffe Feeding

If you want an easy winner, start with the Houston Zoo. The giraffe feeding platform is one of those things kids will actually remember, because they get close enough to feel like they are part of the action instead of just staring from a distance.
Good to know:
- Giraffe feedings happen daily at 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.
- Price is $9
- There is also a $12 giraffe package option
This is one of those outings where getting there a little early will save you a headache later.
2. Children’s Museum of Houston Spring Break Blast
If your kids have energy to burn, CMH is a strong play this weekend. Their Spring Break Blast is running right now, which means more activities, more excitement, and, yes, more people.
Good to know:
- Spring Break Blast runs March 7 through March 22, 2026
- Event hours are generally 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- The museum opens at noon on Sundays
In other words, this is a good option if you want a full outing and do not mind a little organized chaos.

3. Space Center Houston

If you want something that feels a little more like an “event” and a little less like just filling time, Space Center Houston is always a solid family option. It works especially well when you want to get out of the house but still feel like you did something worthwhile.
Good to know:
- Space Center Houston is listed at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 21
- It is also listed at 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 22
The nice thing here is that it works for younger kids, older kids, and parents who want something a little better than another trampoline park.

4. Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo Final Weekend
If your family is in a rodeo mood, this is the final weekend to go. The Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo is one of those classic Houston family outings that gives you a little bit of everything: carnival rides, food, animals, and enough walking to make the kids sleep well later.
This is probably the loudest and busiest option on the list, but also the most “Houston” choice if you want to lean into the season.

Bottom Line
You really do not need to overcomplicate this weekend. If you want animals, do the zoo. If you want a hands-on indoor energy outlet, do the Children’s Museum. If you want something a little more memorable, go to Space Center Houston. And if you have not been, get to the Rodeo before its gone.
Pick one, get out of the house, and call it a win.
